Toronto Starts Rebuilding process
Toronto- July 1st, a holiday for Canada will, in Toronto, go down as a day of infamy. Not only did Toronto deal one of their best defenseman, it dealt one of their rising young stars in Alexei Ponikarovsky. Traded, to Chicago the vile city known as Hockey's Wasteland, Toronto came out alive, barely breathing, but alive with such treasured projects like Igor Radulov Mikhail Yakubov, and Michal Barinka. Yes the dawn of Aquarius is upon us. Torontonians stormed the streets When they heard the news demanding the head of new GM Tom Reierson, wondering how in the world they can trade lovely Bryan McCabe. Reierson, who is new to this city of brotherly pipe, was reported to be hiding in his office wondering why he ever moved to this wretched place where they have winter 11 months of the year and everyone is so darn nice. Reierson is reportedly trying to move fan favorites Mats Sundin and Alexander Mogilny, but as everyone wants to kill him in Toronto, has not shown his face recently so we at the Toronto Planet Sun Times Weekly could not verify these very true rumours. Time will only tell if Reierson is a genius, or an undercover Blackhawk fan.
Vancouver Lands Souray
The Vancouver Canucks have upgraded their defense by trading Sami Salo, VAN's 1st round pick in 2004, and BUF's 3rd in 2005 to the Habs for Sheldon Souray and prospect Tomas Plekanec.
Roenick on his way to Atlanta
The Philadelphia Flyers have traded fan favourite Jeremy Roenick along with Danny Markov to the Atlanta Thrashers for Patrik Stefan, Garnet Exelby, and a 2nd round draft pick.
Forsberg Headed to Florida
Colorado Avalanche have shocked the sports world by trading one of the best players in the NHL for some who doesn't compare. The Colorado Avalanche have traded Peter Forsberg to the Florida Panthers for Olli Jokinen.
"Jokinen is a good young player who'll fit in nicely on my second line but is obviously not an equivalent player." said the Colorado GM.
